Excel Sports Management is a full service management and marketing agency, representing some of the top athletes in professional sports today. Specifically, Excel represents numerous NBA, MLB and PGA standouts.

Within my role as intern at Excel, I provide administrative support for all departments. Given my experience in both client services and sports marketing, my specific responsibilities include the following:

 Assistance in the development of introductory letters and personalised Excel Sports Management brochures for potential NBA Draftees and their parents.

 The research for and development of player profiles for potential NBA Draftees, required by all Basketball agents for presentation purposes.

 The presentation of statistics for all potential NBA Draftees.

 The sourcing of video footage for the Excel Sports Management video reel.

 The research of effective social media/fundraising strategies for current NBA, MLB and PGA athletes.
Marketing Assistant Basketball Australia From July 2011 To February 2013
Within my role at Basketball Australia, I was part of a team responsible for the coordination and delivery of marketing and promotional strategies for both the Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL) and the Australian Olympic Basketball teams - the Australian Boomers and the Jayco Australian Opals.

I would maintain regular contact with sponsors, stakeholders, clubs, players and staff to ensure effective communication, which assisted in the delivery of desired commercial outcomes for all parties. A large focus of my role was major event management, which included the coordination of both National and International Basketball games to promote Basketball as a word class sport.

Specific responsibilities within this role included:

 The provision of excellent relationship management to all partners, driving best practice communications to increase partner retention and growth in partnerships.

 Communication with commercial partners to ensure they were leveraging their sponsorship by utilising both local and international talent for all relevant product launches and advertising campaigns.

 The coordination of operational duties in the lead up to all major events, including event promotions, sponsor servicing, VIP and player ticketing, corporate functions, team catering requirements and the provision of team merchandise.

 Assistance in the delivery of all major events, including the coordination of ticketing, game day corporate functions and player/team/club requests.

 Communication with clubs and agents to promote both local and international Basketball talent to the wider community through different media mediums, including television, radio, print and online.

 Worked with clubs and agents to promote both local and international Basketball talent through school programs such as ‘Aussie Hoops’ and ‘Active after Schools’ and also within communities through coaching clinics, workshops and player appearances.

 Worked with clubs, players, States and associations to keep them informed of all new commercial initiatives and to assist in the implementation of those initiatives; and

 Provided assistance in the implementation and delivery of Basketball Australia’s licensing program.
