My role as an operational volunteer involves working with a range of both employees and other volunteers within the company. Throughout 2015 I maintained regular hours to both complement my studies and gain experience to improve my clinical skills. This included assessing patients, providing appropriate treatment and transport responsibilities. After completing my qualification, I have continued to volunteer to further my skills and build relationships within the community. I have found this position to be incredibly rewarding and a great learning experience.
Community Educator	St John Ambulance	From April 2016 To Current
The primary responsibility of the educator is mentoring school children in hands-on first aid training. The students taught range from 3 to 13 years old. The educator is also responsible for communicating and marketing the program to school boards, committees and teaching staff in the local area. Through this role I have developed an ability to interact and communicate across authority gradients, as well as cater to the differing learning styles and diversity within the classroom. As part of the role I represented St John at various public events including emergency services demonstrations as well as various community and sporting events.
