What do you love about surfing?
The lifestyle, the healthy feeling you get after a session, and most of all seeing your mates get hammered on a big drop.
Do you have a session that stands out as your most memorable?
Taj and myself had Cloudbreak this year before the finals day of the Fiji comp , we surfed with just us and a few groms.The waves were solid and the conditions were perfect I'll never forget it.
How did you get into Personal training?
I'd always been into training and fascinated by the way the body functions wether it be through nutrition, or movement. So I thought a career in that field was for me. I cant picture myself doing anything else, I love it.
How did you find your niche in Surf fitness, and what are some of the key components involved with training for the surf?
I started a web site called surffit.tv because I get asked a lot what sort of training I do with taj so I thought I'd share some of it. Training for surfing is about injury prevention first and strength and conditioning second. Mix it up and keep it fun.
You're Taj Burrows personal trainer, how did that come about?
Surffitness.tv has tips on training, nutrition and recovery, it's sort of a holistic way for surfers to stay fit and healthy.
Who/ What inspired you to follow this path?
My mates inspire me, I see the hard work they put in the ups and downs that get thrown at them and the way they deal with challenges or perceive stress. Nothing comes easy but if you work hard you can achieve anything.
What do you love about your job?
The destinations, the people we meet, the healthy lifestyle and watching the way surfing is progressing.
