In this role I was exposed to how a smaller retail brand operates. I worked more closely with the staff I managed and learnt what it was like to roster a smaller staff base. I completed the daily banking sheet each day and conducted actual banking once a week. I opened and closed the store each day as well as teaching the more senior staff how to do so. I got to spend more time on merchandising and worked with both the state and national Visual Merchandisers in store. I completed weekly Managers’ Reports and participated in conference calls. I conducted analysis of weekly stock and sales reports and communicated with both Buyers and Allocators to coordinate stock. I completed stock transfers and ran in store (KPI driven) incentives for staff. I trained new staff, and selected a promising casual to be promoted to part-time 3IC. I also interviewed for Christmas Casuals and hired for the first time. I ran the store by myself for 2 months after the Store Manager resigned, also conducting stocktake in this time. I worked every Chadstone VIP day and attended two annual Management meetings at the Quiksilver Head Office in Torquay. I also packed down the store preceding its closure; transferring out all stock and fixtures.

At Doncaster I was the Manager for Homewares. I participated in conference calls and weekly management meetings, as well as regular OHS meetings and training. I managed employees both one-on-one and in groups; including full time staff members during the week, and up to 30 casuals on the weekends. I opened and closed the store on my own, I supervised stocktake and conducted weekly catalogue setup across multiple departments (Sound, Toys, Electrical and Manchester) over a period of 10 months, including managing the catalogue team. I continued to manage incoming stock and work with brand reps. I worked autonomously, with staff members, and the store Visual Merchandiser to maintain a high level of presentation across my departments. I played a key role in the mid-year Toy Sale; working midnight shifts independently supervising casuals in the set up (following planograms). I also assisted in accommodating the string of Target ads aired in 2014 which were filmed at the Doncaster store.
